The Lord Speaker, Baroness D’Souza, welcomed representatives from the Hull City of Sanctuary group to the House of Lords on Monday 14 March, for a round-table discussion on immigration issues, and to talk about how they can all become more engaged with the work of the House and the political process.

To mark ‪#‎IWD2016‬, the progress made in the UK in the areas of women’s representation and empowerment was in the spotlight during a key ‪#‎houseoflords‬ debate yesterday. The debate featured contributions from members including chairperson of The Fawcett Society - Official and a co-chair of Women in Public Policy.

During the debate, two members made their first contributions to the work of the House: the first female bishop to sit in the Lords, the Bishop of Gloucester, and Baroness Mone.
