Suffragette Season February to April 2016

Following the popularity of the feature film ‘Suffragette’, which includes scenes shot at Westminster, the Houses of Parliament is running a season of Suffragette themed tours and events between 6 February and 6 April 2016.

Tickets for the following themed tours are now available to book:

‘Votes for Women!’ Family Tours

  • All Saturdays in February and March 2016 at 1.30pm and 3pm
  • Tuesdays 29 March and 5 April 2016 at 1.30pm and 3pm

Designed especially for families visiting Parliament, the afternoon begins with a one hour tour led by a Visitor Assistant through the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The 'Votes for Women!' family tours are ideal for children aged 7 and over.

The tours are followed by a range of optional 'Votes for Women!'-themed family activities.

Tickets prices: Children (up to 15) free, Adults £18, Concessions (over 60s, students, members of the UK Armed Forces) £15.50

‘From Petitions to Prime Minister: A Short History of Women in Parliament’ Guided Tours

  • All Saturdays in February and March 2016 at 1pm
  • Wednesdays 30 March and 6 April 2016 at 1pm

Led by a ‘Blue Badge’ guide, this 90 minute guided tour through the House of Commons and the House of Lords focuses on the journey from early petitioning for women’s suffrage to the UK’s first (and so far) only female Prime Minister and the prominent role of women in Parliament today.

Ticket prices: Adults £25, Concessions (over 60s, students, members of the UK Armed Forces) £20, Children (5 to 15 years) £10

Women’s History Month talks and film screenings

To celebrate Women’s History Month, the Houses of Parliament is also running a series of free events in Portcullis House in March 2016.

The Pathé UK feature film 'Suffragette' was directed by Sarah Gavron and stars Carey Mulligan, Anne-Marie Duff and Meryl Streep.
