About Discover Parliament 2016 programme

This programme enables priority booking for pupils aged 16-18 to visit Parliament, ahead of our autumn term bookings day in April 2016. 

Organisations that have not benefitted from a place on the programme in the last three years will be processed first.

Available to UK schools only.

All programmes include a tour of the Palace of Westminster. NB: Parliament is a working building and access to different parts of the Palace of Westminster, as part of your tour, will vary due to Parliamentary business.

Your visit might include:

  • The House of Commons and/or House of Lords chambers
  • A visit to the Commons and/or Lords gallery to observe the MPs or Lords debating
  • Central Lobby, at the very heart of the Parliamentary Estate.
  • St. Stephen’s Hall, the home of the original House of Commons
  • Westminster Hall, the last remaining part of the original Palace

  • 10:45-13:00

 Tuesdays and Wednesdays

  • 10:00-12:15
  • 11:15-13:30
  • 12:45-15:00

 Thursdays

  • 10:00-12:15
  • 11:30-13:45
  • 12:30-14:45

Fridays

  • 10:00-12:15
  • 11:30-13:45
  • 13:30-15:45

Places per session: 32 (to include pupils and adults). 

Due to the availability of this programme, we are limiting spaces to 32 (to include pupils and adults) per organisation.

How to apply

We are now booking for Discover Parliament 2016 via an online application form. The application process closed on Wednesday 24 March 2016 and all  applicants (successful or not) will be notified by Friday 15 April 2016..

Places will be offered through a random ballot of all applicants.

Applicants from organisations that have not benefitted from a place on the programme in the last three years will be processed first.
