EU Financial Affairs Sub-Committee

Completing Europe's Economic and Monetary Union inquiry

Inquiry status: open

Call for evidence published.

Scope of the inquiry

On 22 June 2015 the five Presidents* published a report to facilitate completion of the Economic and Monetary Union. Subsequently, the European Commission then published on 21 October 2015 a Communication laying out a package of measures to implement the next steps set out by the five Presidents. The Committee seeks to examine the necessary recommendations and proposals as euro area Member States prepare to build an economic, financial, fiscal and political union.  The Committee will assess the direct and indirect implications to the UK and take a view on whether the balance between what is required for euro area and non-euro area Member States is fair.
*Jean-Claude Juncker in close cooperation with Donald Tusk, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Mario Draghi and Martin Schulz.
