Buying a house is becoming increasingly unaffordable for ‪#‎firsttimebuyers‬, the cost of private rented accommodation is rising and there is a lack of affordable ‪#‎socialhousing‬. Send your views on this to the UK House of Lords Economic Affairs ‪#‎Committee‬ as they launch an inquiry into the supply and affordability of housing across the UK ‪#‎housingmarket‬ reviewing the effectiveness of the ‪#‎Government‬'s policies to provide low cost housing to rent and to buy. They will also consider the ‪#‎economic‬ factors that influence the demand for and availability of reasonably priced housing to buy and to rent.

The ‪#‎Government‬ has pledged to "devolve powers and budgets to boost local growth in England". This could see regions and large cities, like ‪#‎Birmingham‬, ‪#‎Manchester‬ and ‪#‎Sheffield‬ given greater powers over transport, social care and economic development, overseen by directly elected regional mayors. The plans are included in the Cities and ‪#‎LocalGovernment‬ ‪#‎Devolution‬ Bill, which will be debated in the House of Commons this afternoon. Watch the debate live from 1.45pm
