Parliament and You: event for the d/Deaf community

Are you a member of the d/Deaf community? Come to a free event organised by Parliament’s Outreach Service in partnership with the British Deaf Association (BDA) to find out about the work of Parliament and how to have your say on the topics that matter to you.

Our guest speaker, Stephen Lloyd MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Deafness, will talk about promoting the interests of deaf and hard of hearing people through the work of Parliament.

A panel of experts and parliamentarians, including Rosie Cooper MP, will answer your questions about engaging with Parliament.

The session will also provide:

  • a general introduction to Parliament and its work
  • practical guidance on how and why to get involved
  • case study examples of successful engagement with MPs and Lords
  • opportunities for group discussions and networking

British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters and Speech to Text will be available. Refreshments will be provided.

This event is aimed primarily at members of the d/Deaf community and hard of hearing people, and is organised as part of Parliament Week 2014.
