Bar of the House

Railing at the lobby end of the House of Lords Chamber behind which Members of the Lords enter and guests sit to watch proceedings.

In the House of Commons the Bar of the House is the name given to a white line across the width of the Chamber. Members of the House of Lords and the public are not allowed beyond the bar when the House is sitting.
