Primary debating workshops with The English Speaking Union

Primary schools, located in the Midlands, can take part in six sessions exploring themes around democracy, Parliament, speaking and debating.

Parliament's Education Service are working in collaboration with The English Speaking Union to offer this programme, which takes the form of six one-hour workshops, and is suitable for pupils in Years 3-6.

Each participating school is also offered up to three teacher CPD sessions to equip teachers will the knowledge and skills they need to continue this work with pupils in the future.

Curriculum links

Closely linked to key stage 2 English, History and Citizenship curiculums, these six interactive workshops develop students’ understanding of Parliament, the role of debating in democracy and the skills to actively participate in an effective way.
