Manufacturing output rose by 0.7% in November 2014 compared with October, and was 2.7% higher than in November 2013

In Q3 2014 there were 2.6 million jobs in the manufacturing sector (8% of all jobs in the UK). This was an increase of 13,000 over the quarter (+0.5%) and of 42,000 over the year (1.5%).

The Markit/CIPS Manufacturing PMI, an important measure of manufacturing activity, was 53.0 in January, up from 52.5 in December (50.0 is unchanged). Markit manufacturing performance in October was the first positive percentage increase since June.
