The 2022 World cup bidding process

One-off oral evidence session held on 22 July 2014

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee held a one-off evidence session considering the bidding process for the World Cup tournament in 2022. The session took place on Tuesday 22 July.

This session followed on from the Committee’s previous inquiry into the 2018 World Cup Bid when the Committee considered the strength of the English bid and raised concerns over the integrity of FIFA’s bidding processes for 2018 and 2022 tournaments.

As well as considering further recent allegations of corruption affecting the FIFA executive committee, the Committee examined the Football Association’s role and engagement with both UEFA and FIFA in the international game.
