About State Opening of Parliament
Please note that this visit is available to UK schools only.
KS1 English, History
Using costumes, props, storytelling and role play, discover why and how the three parts of Parliament come together on this special day. Then visit the Palace of Westminster and follow the procession routes taken by Black Rod, the Right Honorable Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister and Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
Your school's constituency MP will be informed of your visit and they will be invited along to meet your pupils. This will be subject to the MP’s availability in Westminster at the time of your visit.
NB: Parliament is a working building and access to different parts of the Palace of Westminster, as part of your tour, will vary due to Parliamentary business.
Your visit might include:
Norman Porch, the Robing Room and/or The Royal Gallery

Central Lobby, at the ‘heart’ of the Houses of Parliament
