Parliament is open to all UK and overseas visitors to attend debates, watch committee hearings or take a tour inside one of the world’s most iconic buildings. Only permanent UK residents can book a tour of Elizabeth Tower and see Big Ben.

Security information

To ensure that Parliament remains accessible to the public we have implemented some security guidelines. Please take note of them before and during your visit.

  • Searches, similar to those used in airports, will be conducted on entry
  • Mobile phones must be turned off
  • Cameras cannot be used, except in Westminster Hall
  • CCTV cameras are in operation
