Regional events

Key stage five students taking part in an education event

Regional events take place in different parts of the UK and bring learning about Parliament to your local area.

A number of regional events take place over the course of the school year, each one focusing on a different age group and a different area of the country.

A travel/cover subsidy of up to £150 is also available to state schools whose students are attending a regional event - see terms and conditions below.

Primary Regional Events

Aimed at primary students aged 9-11, these events are designed to:

  • Give students a chance to meet and engage with a local Member of Parliament and to question them on a range of issues
  • Enable students to participate in  informative and interactive workshops about how Parliament works and how to develop their public speaking skills
  • Involve students from a range of schools in a parliamentary-style debate
  • Provide teachers with the opportunity to learn more about Parliament's Education Service and its free programmes and resources for use with students

Primary Regional Events in 2013-14

  • Foyle, 18 October 2013
  • The New Forest, 28 February 2014

A Level Regional Events

Aimed at post-16 students, typically those studying Government & Politics, these events are designed to:

  • Give students a chance to engage with parliamentarians from both the House of Commons and House of Lords, and other representatives involved in local politics
  • Develop students' knowledge and understanding of topics covered by the A level syllabus through  a series of informative workshops relating to Parliament and politics
  • Involve students in a "Question Time" style Q&A event with a varied panel
  • Provide teachers with the opportunity to learn more about Parliament's Education Service and its free programmes and resources for use with students

A level Regional Event in 2013-14

  • Leeds, 22 November 2013

Secondary Regional Events

Regional events for Key Stage 3&4 students, with a Citizenship subject focus, have not been well attended in previous years and therefore we do not plan to hold an event of this kind in 2013-14. However, we do work extensively with 11-16 year old students in a wide range of settings so please contact us if you would like to arrange workshops for students in your school or organisation.
