Regional education events about Parliament

Key stage five students taking part in an education event

Over the next few months, events will be taking place in Manchester, Norwich and Dundee to help teachers and students find out more about Parliament.

The upcoming events will be held on:

  • 2 December 2011 - University of Manchester
  • March 2012 - Norwich
  • May 2012 - Dundee

Regional event in Manchester

This all-day event is designed for key stage 5 students studying politics, citizenship, law or related subjects. Places are also available for teachers and trainee teachers who want to find out more about Parliament for their professional development.

Activities will include a key note speaker, a panel question and answer session, and workshops held in small groups. Subjects may include:

  • voting systems
  • the media and Parliament
  • the role of the Supreme Court
  • the work of committees
  • Political Speed Dating - a chance to meet and question a range of political experts, including parliamentarians, and compare their views

There will be a subsidy available to assist schools with the cost of attending the day. Details are available on request.

To book your place, please email us or ring 0207 219 1134.

To allow as many schools and colleges as possible to attend this event, places are initially limited to 15 students per school, plus accompanying staff.

On Friday 18 November we will release any remaining places to schools with existing bookings, giving them the option to bring additional students.

If you would like to book more than 15 places for the event, please contact us to discuss this.

Regional workshops in Norwich and Dundee

The event in March 2012 in Norwich will cater for primary school students and teachers and the event in May in Dundee will be for secondary school students and teachers.

Full details of both events will be published here as soon as they are available.
